For over a hundred years, Klaas de Boer is a trusted name in fuels and lubricants, active in both the shipping and wholesale markets.
Over a hundred years of craftsmanship
Klaas de Boer Oil Trading was founded in 1914 as a supplier of fuels and lubricants for the fishing fleet at Urk. When the construction of the Afsluitdijk changed the shipping route from Urk, the fishery moved to the ports in the north of the Netherlands, and Klaas de Boer moved as well.
Today, our own bunker ships are located in those ports. Smaller vessels, such as cutters and tugs, can dock directly at the bunker ship, but we also deliver alongside them. We bunker larger seagoing vessels on-site, coordinating the schedule in advance.
From bunkering to wholesale
In addition to our role as a bunker supplier, we have grown into a wholesale company over the past year. From our depot in Harlingen, we blend fossil diesel with FAME (biofuel) into custom mixtures, which we supply to oil traders and companies on shore. This allows us to purchase large volumes and create the right mix ourselves, in compliance with the blending obligation.
Own storage, own fleet
Thanks to our own locations in Amsterdam, IJmuiden, Eemshaven, Emden, Harlingen, Delfzijl, and Lauwersoog, and our own bunker ships and trucks, we deliver quickly and when needed. This ensures continuity and quality, without relying on third parties.
Sustainably looking ahead
At Klaas de Boer, we continue to look forward. We increasingly supply cleaner fuels such as HVO and FAME and also use them within our own fleet and transport. This way, we gradually reduce our emissions without compromising reliability or service.
